Thursday, October 2, 2014:  In-class writing assignment:  Write an essay telling how you could take the topic of gay marriage and move away from the more common approaches for essays (such as summary/informational and agree/disagree) to a more analytical argument.  Discuss Chapter 7 as a class.  For next class, explain how you can take a more analytical approach to the topic you are considering.  For next Thursday, October 9, your proposal for your topic, including a brief discussion of two opposing articles and the analytical approach that you will be taking toward your article.
